RCC Designation

There are seven steps to obtaining the RCC designation:

  1. Contact our instructor, Mary Jo DiMercurio, or call 925-584-2888.
  2. Pass a screening interview with the Instructor. You will need to meet these minimum qualifications:
    • May be transitioning into, or in the early years of, business coaching practice, either as an external or internal coach
    • Must have at least seven years' business/organizational experience (this means working experience in the for-profit, non-profit and/or government sectors)
  3. Complete a course registration form and remit full combined payment for the RCC Training Program and WABC membership to instructor before commencement of course.
  4. Successfully complete all the RCC program requirements within six months of course start date (if you're intending on seeking the WABC Registered Corporate Coach (RCC) designation). These requirements include completing a minimum of 30 hours of corporate coaching clients with a minimum of 3 different clients. Three of those clients must complete coaching evaluations, which indicate the client's perspective on the coaching experience.
  5. Submit completed work from Step 4 to the course instructor for review and approval.
  6. Once the instructor has determined that the participant has successfully completed the requirements, the instructor will email the RCC exam to the participant. Once exam is completed and passed, the instructor will forward the participant's name to the WABC.
  7. The WABC will contact the participant about receiving the WABC Registered Corporate Coach designation and certificate from the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches.

RCC Overview

The RCC program is designed to emphasize rapid application of practical principles, skills and techniques from the viewpoint of an executive coach.

There are six major components to the RCC program:

  1. Overview of Executive coaching and Corporate coaching with a focus on the initial assessment.
    • Main topics: Introduction to classmates, definitions of coaching, coaching on life balance, and blocks to success
    • Main coaching skills: Assessment and listening
    • Tools: Life Balance Wheel, Work Balance Wheel, and the Blocks To Success List.
  2. Coaching Career Issues in the Corporate Setting.
    • Main topics: Career issues
    • Main coaching skills: Asking powerful questions
    • Tools: The Career Projection Exercise©.
  3. Dealing with Stress and Emotions in the Workplace.
    • Main topics: Self-induced and other forms of stress
    • Main coaching skills: Self-management
    • Tools: Stress Inventory and TruthTalk© Thought Tracking System
  4. Dealing with Differences in the Corporate Setting.
    • Main topics: Dealing with conflict and motivating individuals with different behavioral styles
    • Main coaching skills: Understanding differences; motivating clients
    • Tools: DiSC® Personal Profile System® and The Coach's Handbook.
  5. Organization Skills and Practice Building Issues.
    • Main topics: Organizational strategies for unfocused clients. Ways to build your coaching practice
    • Main coaching skills: Goal-setting, accountability, and structuring
    • Tools: Storyboarding and the 5-step model for structuring sessions
  6. Personalized Coaching.
    • You will receive three coaching sessions after the coursework is completed. These sessions will be with the class instructor and are meant to help you integrate the information learned from the classes into your own coaching practice.

What is the Registered Corporate Coach Program (RCC)?

The RCC was designed specifically for individuals who seek to augment their skills in the area of executive and corporate coaching and who are prepared for a compressed study program.

What does the RCC designation mean?

The RCC designation is awarded by the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC) and verifies that you have met professional standards for coaching within a corporate setting. In an unregulated field, the RCC sets you apart as meeting standards set by the leading professional business coaching association.

What is the difference between a “registered” designation and a “certification”?

A “registered” program is less time consuming than a typical “certification” program. The RCC offer the benefits of a professional program based on life experiences.

Who is the WABC?

WABC is the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches, the first international professional association dedicated exclusively to the business coaching industry. WABC is also the only association of its kind with advanced admission and renewal membership standards based on business experience, coaching experience and references. Since 1997, WABC has been representing and serving all kinds of external and internal coaches working with businesses, organizations and governments. These coaches include business coaches, corporate coaches, executive coaches, leadership coaches, organizational development coaches and many other types of coaches.

Who is eligible to take the RCC?

Consultants, human resource professionals, therapists, coaches, and managers all pursue the RCC. The RCC is appropriate for any individual who has had significant business or professional experience.
